Engineering and CAD Design

If you are interested in the bigger picture and like designing, repairing, building or maintaining machines and tools, then engineering could be the career for you.

This programme is focused on working with machining, developing fabrication skills, gaining knowledge and skills using hand and power tools. In addition you will learn about welding, working with engineering drawings, applying calculations and measurement in your work as well as working safely in an engineering workshop.

There is a strong demand for people with engineering skills, particularly on the West Coast. Businesses are looking for employees with a good understanding of their roles and responsibilities in the engineering trade. There are many career options for engineers for work in areas such as manufacturing, building and construction, aviation, boat building and transport, agriculture and energy. When you have completed your training through the Trades Academy, you can work towards a Level 3 National Certificate or a diploma in engineering.
