Employment and Life Skills

Through Experiential Learning, connection to our inspiring natural environment and by offering a variety of personal challenges, this course will provide you with opportunities to learn more about yourself, helping you to develop the skills you need to gain employment or go to training outside of secondary school.

The programme’s person-centred approach will support and motivate you. The skilled and caring tutors will work alongside the student team to help you to build the confidence and skills you need for the next stages of life once you leave school. Our tutors will help you to create a personal plan to help you to achieve YOUR goals.

As a skills development course, the programme does not offer NCEA accreditation. The focus is to help you to be work and life “out of school“ ready!

Employment options:

A wide range of employment options await you. During the course you will learn how to meet supportive employers and gain entry-level work in a wide range of industries from hospitality, retail, health care and administration. The world of work is your oyster!

Further study options:

This course can lead to the New Zealand Certificate in Foundation Skills (Level 1) and Supported Learning Level 1 at Tai Poutini Polytechnic.
